I am reading:
“To be alive is the biggest fear humans have. Death is not the biggest fear we have; our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive – the risk to be alive and express what we really are. Just being ourselves is the biggest fear of humans. We have learned to live our lives trying to satisfy other people’s demands. We have learned to live by other people’s points of view because of the fear of not being accepted and of not being good enough for someone else.
During the process of domestication, we form an image of what perfection is in order to try to be good enough. We create an image of how we should be in order to be accepted by everybody. We especially try to please the ones who love us, like Mom and Dad, big brothers and sisters, the priests and the teacher.” The Four Agreements
I am reading the Four Agreements as you see.
We are afraid to be alive. We really are. That’s why we are not following our passions. That’s why I often see people who are not even sure what their passions are.
We struggle to find our thing. And even when we find it, we are afraid to fully live it. We are afraid to go all out, take risks, be bold. We proceed with caution. If at all. And give up quickly if something doesn’t go perfect.
Because we want to be perfect. Otherwise the inner judge is not happy. And we feel bad about ourselves. And we can’t feel bad and be alive and be ourselves at the same time. So we feel bad and we hide who we are. And try to be someone else. And then feel bad again. And try again. And this cycle never stops.
How can we stop the cycle?
I know of only one way. Awareness. When you choose to consciously be alive. To consciously stop perfect to get in the way. To consciously be yourself. And not care about anything else.
It’s hard. But I believe that it can be done.
I saw this on Facebook. Kind of relevant. Stop being normal. Start being yourself. Start living.
