Hi! I moved to a new place. I would love for you to visit me there.

How To Get In The Flow or How To Connect With Your Inner Genius

Life is working outFind yourself

I am in the flow of life, I am dancing with life

I am in the flow.

What does this phrase mean to you?

I am aligned. Everything is working out. Life is moving me forward. I am dancing with life instead of resisting and pushing. I live with ease. I live with passion. I love what I do.

I am in the flow.

Are you in the flow? Or do you remember the time in your life when you were?

Ideas, opportunities, and people seemed to show up right in time, moving you forward where you wanted to go. Serendipities followed you everywhere.

Small and seemingly insignificant events had a whole new meaning for you because they were there to show you – you are on the right track.

You felt excited, motivated, inspired.

You found your muse.

And you rolled with it.

You lived!

You do know what I am talking about, right? I know you do. You might be in the flow now. Or I bet you remember at least one period in your life when you were in the flow. It might have been short or it might have been long. But I know you know what I talking about.

Where did all that magic come from?

You tapped into your Inner Genius. You tapped into your Inner Source of Creativity, Inspiration, Motivation and Wisdom.

We all have that Inner Genius that can help us with anything. That Inner Source of Creativity that is ready to provide us with a million ideas about how to make our dreams a reality. That Inner Source of Wisdom to help with taking action on opportunities.

It is inside of us waiting for us to reconnect with it.

Maybe you got disconnected from the source and never found your way back. Or maybe living in connection with it is your everyday reality. Lucky you, if it is the latter.

All the success stories you hear are about people who tapped into the source.  Success rarely has anything to do with luck. In fact I don’t believe in luck, but I guess it is just the matter of how we define certain terms.

And I am even going to dare to say that success rarely has anything to do with hard work alone (don’t throw stones at me yet, let me explain).

Sure, both luck and hard work might take place but they took place because the connection to the source was there. It might have been weak or it might have been strong but it was there.

I truly believe that big and authentic success can’t come only because of luck or hard work. If you are completely disconnected you’ll never find enough motivation to keep up with the hard work.  And luck will never ring its charms on you.

All the answers are truly inside of us. All we have to do is to learn how to connect with the source on a regular basis and you will always be in the flow.

So without postponing it any further, how do you connect to your Inner Genius?

How do you get in the flow?

Here are the exact steps to follow:

Find who you are. “Know thyself” for centuries has been proclaimed to be a key to happiness, meaning and fulfillment. Do you know who you truly are? What are you good at? What  are you passionate about? What are your values?

Do this quick exercise for me. Grab a piece of paper. Now close your eyes and imagine your Best Self. Imagine a time when you are at your best – you look the best, you feel the best, you are happy with yourself, you act exactly the way your Best Self would act.

Get into that feeling of being your Best Self. Now open your eyes and write down 7-10 words that describe your Best Self. Courage, trust, powerful, sophisticated,… what are your words?

Don’t think. Don’t analyze. Just write them down. That’s going to give you a good glimpse into your True Self. There are tons of other exercises you can do to discover who you truly are.

Find yourself. Don’t postpone. This is the only way to get in the flow and stay there.

Write down your life purpose statement. Now expanding from the step above, come up with your life purpose statement. You can read this series to help you with that.

They often say you don’t discover your life purpose, you create it, and I totally agree. As long as it resonates with you on a deep level, inspires you and is clearly stated, you got it right.

Come up with your Vision. Having an authentic vision aligned with who you are and your life purpose is the next step.  Your Vision should answer two questions – what and why. What you want your life to be and why you want it. Write it down.

Get clear on your goals aligned with your True Self, your Life purpose and your Authentic Vision. Write them down as clearly as possible.

Clarity

Everything we were doing  up until now was to help us gain true clarity. 95% of the population lives without that degree of clarity. Are you going to be in the winning 5%?

I believe and saw many examples that true clarity can create miracles.

Live consciously. Why? Because this is the only way to ensure you live every day aligned with your True Self, your Purpose, your Vision and your goals. When you live consciously and with awareness you won’t allow yourself to slip into the old patterns. You won’t allow your limiting beliefs to distract you.

You’ll live your Vision fully.

If you do all of the above, there is a very high chance you’ll get in the flow. Your Inner Genius will wake up and start doing everything to help you along the way. But in order for you to not disconnect again make sure you do the following regularly as well.

Spend time with yourself. What are the activities you do that reconnect you with your True Self?  It might be journaling, it might be meditating, it might be reading a book or listening to some particular music. What makes you feel inspired? What makes you vibrate high?  Whatever it is, find it.

Do it regularly no matter how busy you might be. Remember, if you lose your connection, no amount of hard work will help you to reach your goals.

If you stay connected though, if you are in the flow, hard work will never feel like hard work. You’ll enjoy it. You’ll be motivated to keep up with it. You’ll be inspired. You’ll have tons of ideas. And see opportunities everywhere you go.

You’ll be in the flow.

And you’ll get the results that you want.

Most importantly, you’ll enjoy the journey.

That’s all that really matters.

Remember, happiness is a process, not a destination.

Notes: As you might have noticed with major blog redesign I am also very excited to launch my coaching that I’ve been doing only offline up until now.  This is exactly what my coaching is designed to help you with – to get clear and to get in the flow. And I give you the tools to stay there —  I create a custom made visualization CD just for you to help you get aligned with your Authentic Vision. Check it out.

Hello! Yes I am currently in the flow right now, with my writing, blog, and manifestation of things that are in alignment with my own inspiration, empowerment and creations. This is was an excellent post, and I found it in a rather synchronistic manner. I was in flow while I found this post about flow!!!
Excellent post, and excellent timing, I might add. 🙂

Wow, Lana! The redesign is amazing and it just shows how much you are in the flow. I can totally understand what you are talking about because I feel the same way. Everything is just going right, my road is smooth and nothing stands in my way.
You did a great job at redesigning the website. The new look is awesome!

Great post Lana, your energy comes through loud and clear. I think that one of the things that keeps people outside their own flow is that life starts to feel way too complicated. There is so much “static” in their world that they can’t here their inner voice. And so much “expert advice” that the can’t find their natural intelligence. Getting in touch with our flow means we need to step away from all the noise and confusion long enough to reconnect. Your blog looks excellent!

@Jonathan you put it so perfectly, too many people listen to everyone but themselves when in reality all they have to do is stop, ask and listen for the answers that are already inside of them. Thank you for your comment!

@Marc, that was the best compliment to my blog you could have given. I finally feel home here and yes, it finally feels like me.

Hi Lana,

Congratulations on the new blog design and the online launch of your business! That is awesome! 🙂

Like you, I do not believe in luck. I used to believe in the concept but then I realized that we create our own luck and being in alignment with our inner voice is the key.

When we are living in accordance with our passions and skills, life has a beautiful way of having everything fall into place.

Hi Lana,
This is a most timely post as I am almost completely past some health issues that bothered me in late 2009/early 2010. I am not currently in the flow and experience only intermittent glimpses of the person I want to be.

I will take the time and ask myself the questions you’ve recommended because I know the rest of my life is still an open book waiting for me to title the chapters.

Your blog redesign is awesome!

Jeff

Lana, love the new design and I loved the post. I am totally with you and could feel your energy in the post, I love it when I see posts like this as you are passing on your energy to someone else to experience a bit of what you experience. Remembering being in the flow can also sometimes be enough to get you back in the flow and starting loving life again.

You know that feeling you get when you read someone’s work and think ‘That person is going somewhere and is living the dream?’ that’s what I felt when I read your post – great stuff Lana.

@Jeff, I am so glad you are past health issues and want to rediscover yourself. Ask those questions or ask any other that come to mind. All the answers are truly inside of us, all we have to do is stop, ask and listen. You’ll be amazed.

@Steven, thank you Steven, I am so glad you got that feeling when reading my post, I do feel like I am living the dream even though there are still lots of steps that need to be taken to completely reach it. Well, I totally enjoy the process and that is all that matters. I know you are in that place now too and very happy for you.

Living consciously and spending time with myself are my ways in reconnecting with my true inner self. I believe that God is within us and our powers lies in our subconscious. If we let go of the control of our minds we are able to tap the infinity deep within us. 🙂

Lana,

Thank You for this 😉
What a candid post. LOVE it!
The Tao Te Ching is full of parallels to nature, and in fact the pure essence of the teachings seems to be to help us become Tao-inspired sages through oneness with the environment.
Being in the flow for me is being surrounded by the beauty of nature, playing with my son, listening to someone, writing, blogging. Simply being rather than doing. I feel that I attained peaceful and awakened state when I am simply harmonizing with the universe.
Thanks for this lovely post. Looking forward to reading more 😉

Nothing beats being true to you.

I’m very much a fan of living life by design, instead of by default (unless of course, your default just happens to kick arse 😉

Great design. I’m thinking about simplifying my site as well.

You make an excellent point that we’ve all been in flow, but I think most of associate it with a specific event, and not with our inner being. Flow to me is being one with the inner being. Then life simply knows what to do. Decisions come pre-made. Hard work, self-discipline and the all the mind-power things like visualization come afterward. They’re not essential, the essential ingredient seems to be of a unified being, and that in my experience comes from developing awareness and letting go.

Thanks, great insights!

Lana,
I love your new look. For me I get out of the flow when I’m comparing myself to others or believing there is competition and not enough for me. I’m in the flow when I’m thriving not striving. I know this so well I catch myself and switch out of my fear and into the flow and love of my work! Thanks for the inspiration!
